Three Ways Bath & Skin Care Products Can Be Magical & Medicinal

When I think of an apothecary, a magical space filled with medicinal herbs in all their forms comes to mind. Perhaps some tinctures or teas, potions or salves - there are many ways your body can work with these herbs. Bath & skin care products may not seem like an obvious choice for the beginnings of an apothecary. But to me, they're perfect.

Your skin is your largest organ; everything you put on it gets immediately absorbed. Using high-quality, natural ingredients & thoughtfully selected plants & essential oils, you can infuse your body on a holistic level with gentle nourishment from your toes to your crown. You're immediately nurturing your outer-most self while your inner self absorbs the benefits.

The power of scent is also a potent medicine - it's directly connected to your nervous system & its impacts are often immediate & unconscious. Certain smells can invoke memories or sensations that make you feel grounded & calm, peaceful & joyous, or even sad & afraid. When you find the combination of scent & emotion that creates the feeling your heart is craving, that is magic.

There's also something in the ritual of these products that I find healing on a deeper level - they require a few moments (or more) to use & can signal a shift in your day. It's time you've devoted yourself to caring for yourself, checking in with your heart, & letting your body relax & unwind. Lighting a candle can be a ritual to give gratitude for all the things that light up your life. While rubbing body butter into your skin, you can thank each limb for all it does to move you through your day. Soaking in an Epsom Salt bath eases your muscles & allows your mind to slow down, & as you drain the tub, you can appreciate all you're releasing (in all the ways).

Creating time for rituals & self-care, checking in with your heart, & connecting with plants & minerals to nourish your body: these are medicines you can conjure up for yourself. These products are just a catalyst to support you in your journey & practice of well-being.
