8 Easy Ways to Elevate Your Outfits and Still Feel Comfortable

Creating stylish outfits for everyday life doesn't have to be complicated or uncomfortable; here are a few easy tricks I've learned for looking fabulous & creating gorgeous outfits you can live in.

Highlight the unique details of vintage denim by knotting a simple button-up shirt at the waist (or tucking it in).

Upgrade a simple tee-shirt dress by layering a sleeveless knit over it; look to nature for colour combination inspiration.

Add interest to a monochrome look by playing with textures - try a linen or silk shirt with corduroy trousers.

Find an easy shirt dress you can move in with a few details that make it exceptional; it'll be a piece you can throw on & run out the door no matter where you're going. This simple button-up dress has slight balloon sleeves that show off beautiful bracelets, an adjustable tie waist & pockets - it feels refined while still being functional for everyday life.

Look for pieces that have unique details, & make that the focus by pairing it with something neutral. Against a black skirt, your eye immediately goes to the rich green colour & curved hem of this vintage shirt.

Play around with balancing shapes & colours, like a fitted bottom + voluminous top or neutral skirt + colourful shirt.

Try pairing a romantic blouse with something simple + utilitarian like a khaki skirt. You can take it to the next level by being attentive to little details, like how the buttons line up & the flare of the a-line skirt mirrors the ruffled shoulders.

Have fun with vintage details like kick pleats & deep pockets; keep the look streamlined by pairing it with a thin sweater tucked in.

I’m so grateful to the gorgeous Lisa Dawn for playing dress-up with me! She’s a magical Somatic & Attachment Guide who offers both 1:1 sessions + self-paced courses (plus her newsletter is fantastic). I’ve worked with her for chronic pain + anxiety, & the simple tools that she taught have helped me immensely. I highly recommend reaching out to her if you’re struggling - the things she shares are life-changing.
